SFERA INTERNATIONAL is an NGO in Bitola (North Macedonia), which was first formed in 2007 as an informal group, and, in July 2009, was registered as an NGO. Our general goal is to educate the population in North Macedonia, using different non-formal methods, about the protection of the environment, cultural and natural heritage, in order to raise the awareness of all age groups about the importance of healthy lifestyle and the benefits that come with it.
Our main goals and objectives are:
- The protection of the environment, and of cultural and natural heritage;
- The promotion of sustainable development and the usage of alternative sources of energy;
- The promotion of a healthy lifestyle – sport, healthy diet;
- The development of professional and leadership skills among young people;
- The education of youngsters in the field of crisis management (floods, earthquakes, fires, erosion and other natural disasters);
- The promotion of non-formal education and networking to support young people on local, national and international level;
- The promotion of youth activism and active citizenship among young people and the informing of youth about all the opportunities they have;
- The raising of awareness regarding equality, tolerance, democracy and human rights to the youngsters;
- The support and facilitation of the Europeanisation process of the country.
We focus our work on contributing towards achieving all of these goals on a national and international level. On the national level, we are a member of National Youth Council of Macedonia, Union of Youth Workers, Youth Coalition SEGA, Platform ZEMI ZDIV, and Centre for Environmental Democracy FLOROZON. While on the international, we are part of the European NGO World at our Home Latvia, EPA Network Germany, Inter Alia Youth Network Greece, and Informal Network of Associazione JOINT Italy.
We organise the Art Residency and the Local Arts Exhibition in Prespa (North Macedonia). Also, we have an active role in the communication, dissemination and evaluation of the overall project.
