About this artwork
The artwork is inspired by the past and present of the place where it was created. I use simple natural laws and materials to show the feeling I felt. The artwork consists of a number of stones connected by a metal rope. The stones symbolize the different peoples and nationalities, connected to each other by a thread (metal rope), and interact with each other. They are separate units themselves, but also a common whole. Thus, the neighboring nations have a separate singularity and present, but also a common past and root. Through the laws of physics (weight, mass and energy), I show that when you place (swing) one unit of artwork, all units move and interact – so do peoples and nationalities: influence and determine a common direction. The work is placed on an apple tree as part of the place in which it was created.
