About this artwork
The Prespa Art Residency was held in a huge house with two floors, which was three minutes away from the lake. We usually sat on the second floor at nightfall, and enjoyed ourselves with nice conversation and different activities. This drawing is about one night, when I was sitting alone and working on my tablet with poor light. I prefer to work in the darkness because the light from the computer is enough for me. I thought of making the working ambience more interesting, so I lit up a candle. That didn’t go according to plan, because after a short period of time, all of the bugs started gathering around the light. It was quite disturbing, because I was really bothered by various insects including moths and huge bugs, but at least they were not dangerous. To be honest, after a while, I got used to it, and even started enjoying the loneliness and the fact that -at least- I had a bunch of butterflies rotating around my head. The candle was actually a good idea, because it created a really gloomy and dark atmosphere, just as I like it in general. The point of this story is that there is always a glimmer of hope, or as I named it “Glimmer of Light” even in the darkest hour, or unpleasant situation.
