About this artwork

The first thing you can see in this painting is the “horo” , the famous Bulgarian dance. I painted it because I was inspired by the famous “touch” of young lovers, who dance only by their forearms, the only body part they can touch each other while dancing. This kind of intimacy was a bliss moment for me.

Remzije Lloga

The polyptych consists of four parts, representing four figures holding hands and performing a traditional Bulgarian dance. Similar to a frieze, two men and two women dance facing the viewer. Their bodies are boldly sketched with expressive masks. Similar to memory formation, when only the most important things have to be captured and remembered, here individual elements have been emphasized by the artist. The white shirts of the central two figures stand out in order to emphasize the movement of the bodies. A stylized decorative embroidery element passes through the two end figures. The sensation of a memory, of something fleeting and magical, is emphasized by the drawing of a mother and a child holding a kite in the upper left corner.
